How to Navigate the Subfolder Analyzer Tree Mode
Learn how to visualize your website structure and performance using the collapsible Tree Mode in Subfolder Analyzer.
Standard Google Search Console lacks a visual hierarchy for subfolder performance, forcing you to analyze flat URL lists. The Advanced GSC Visualizer solves this by converting your site's directory into an interactive, collapsible tree map.
This guide covers how to switch from the default table view to the visual tree and configure its layout to match your analysis needs.
Step 1: Activate Tree Mode
To start using the visual layout, navigate to the active Subfolder Analyzer interface. Above the default data table, locate the view toggle buttons. Click the Tree button next to the Table button to activate the collapsible tree view. The interface will immediately switch to displaying your site's hierarchical structure.
Step 2: Configure Folder Visibility
Once in tree mode, use the View settings to control how much of your directory is loaded onto the canvas.
- Select Top 10 Folders to limit the graph to your highest-traffic directories.
- Select All Folders to render the complete hierarchical map of your website.
Step 3: Toggle Pages and Folders
You can adjust whether the tree displays only structural directories or individual URLs. Locate the Show heading in the settings area and choose your preferred view.
- Folders only: Displays just your subfolders to evaluate structural performance and relations. Solid blue nodes indicate expandable folders containing sub-levels. Empty outlined nodes represent folders with no further subdirectories.
- Folders and pages: Displays both subfolders and individual URLs. Folders remain blue, while individual pages appear as purple nodes.
Warning Manage Node Count
Selecting both **All Folders** and **Folders and pages** simultaneously on a large site can render upwards of 1,000 nodes. Keep irrelevant branches collapsed to maintain a manageable and understandable view.
Step 4: Choose the Layout Style
Under the Layout heading, select the visual framework that best suits your screen size and site depth.
- Tree: Renders a standard top-down or left-to-right branching structure.
- Radial: Renders a circular map spreading outward from the root domain, ideal for saving vertical space.
With the basic tree structure and visibility configured, you have a solid foundation for analyzing your directory architecture. Subsequent guides cover how to manage node expansions, apply specific performance metrics to each node, and configure node sizing rules.
